My magical wedding day
It was a beautiful, but very hot day, 14 years ago. May 21th, 2011 to be precise. We had opted for an outdoor backyard wedding and I had spent the whole year leading up to the big day making everything from bridesmaids jewelry to my bridal crown and bouquet of vintage brooches. Although I probably spent way too much time making and preparing for the wedding it’s one of the things I love the most about it. The handmade details made it so special and I still have those pieces to remember the day by.
The color I had chosen for my wedding was sort of a sage, or maybe minty green. Turns out it wasn’t the easiest color to match with dresses and napkins etc. But I did find these lush chalcedony cabochons (stones) that I bezel set in silver for my bridesmaids gifts.

Believe it or not but there was an abandoned church next to our house which made for THE perfect backdrop for our wedding photos.
It’s an old Swedish tradition to wear a bridal crown (but not many brides do it these days) so I decided to craft one myself. I had only been doing silversmithing (self taught) for a couple of years and I put that thing together with a crème brûlée torch and pure willpower. I did end up removing some of the dark patina before the big day so it had a softer expression.

For my wedding bouquet I collected vintage brooches and earrings that I individually attached stems to, made from metal wire wrapped in green florist tape. That thing was heavy. Gorgeous but heavy. And yes I absolutely still have it.
For cake topper I made these little guys (heavily inspired by the movie A bugs life). David crafted that adorable little tool-belt and I added a little crown and fake eyelashes to mine.
